Our Story

At MoonShadows Farm we make homemade jams, salsas, bbq sauces & much more,
and we proudly deliver these products to you with old fashioned customer service.
These are our traditions.

It All Began with Grandma

Grandma and Grandpa Kraston opened their first general store in the early 1920's. Among the goods they sold were Grandma's homemade natural jellies, jams and fruit butters. Their customers loved Grandma's tasty sweet treats.

Even as the years past and Grandma got older, she continued to can her recipes for the store, church fairs and to share with family and friends on special occasions. As children, we loved them and always wanted to visit Grandma when she was cookin' jams.

Grandma and grandchildren

Years later, after Grandma and Grandpa were gone, we found her recipes in an old hat box in her dusty attic. We decided to start making and selling some of her recipes at a local flea market during the summer. Once again, as with Grandma, our customers fell in love with our versions of Grandma's sweet treats.

Soon after that, we began selling in a few stores, but we found it harder and harder to keep up with the demand. Instead of turning to a canning company, our desire to keep our products hand made in small batches led us on a search for like-minded artisans who could help us. Today, we have a group of individuals and families that work with us to produce the MoonShadows line of fine country foods.

With more artisans helping, and new ones added over the years, we have been able to add more products over the years such as fruit spreads, salsas, bbq sauces, peanut butters, hot sauces, mustards & ketchups, salad dressings, pickles, dip mixes, and even a small offering of personal care items.

Today, we sell our products in over a dozen stores, farm markets and tourist attractions and private label our products for over another dozen establishments. We have a website, attend craft fairs, offer personal and corporate gift boxes for special events and celebrations, and run fundraisers for non-profit youth, school, church and community groups.

It's been almost 100 years since Grandma sold that first jar in her store. Today, her sweet jellies, jams and fruit butters live on, along with many other goodies, all because we found her recipes in that dusty attic over a decade ago and decided to give them a try.
